Alternator Refurb

Post by portalespeanut »

Just wanted to make a few quick comments regarding maintenance of the original CBX alternators. Mine was on my 'hit list' this winter in what started out as winter maintenance, but has become a major overhaul of my '81 CBX. (That's another story!) 12,000 miles on my bike and the alternator drive plates were toast. I contacted Nils at Restocycle and just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to work with him in getting my alternator back up to speed. Nils supplied both drive plates, the shims I needed (my original shim behind drive plate A was MIA), and included a nice original rotor to replace mine as it had deep grooves in the copper where the brushes ride. I had new bearings, the seal and o-ring on hand, and everything went together like a dream. As the bike is still on the lift, I have not had the opportunity to see how it performs, but know the difference will be like night and day. If you're needing help with your alternator, give Nils a call, you'll be glad you did!

It is great when we get to hear Positive Feedback about any business/vendor.
