Airbox ReFinnishing

Post by Patriotprop »

My airbox was in good condition but faded bad. I tried the heat gun technique on one side but it wasn't the finnish I wanted, it returned the color but it looked funky.

So I started sanding with 800 and proceeded to 1000 grit.

Then I cleaned several times with SEM plastic cleaner.

Let it dry overnight, masked and sprayed two coats of SEM satin black plastic paint. Looks good, we will see how it lasts.

Currently we are in the hot season in Arizona, 8 days of 110 degrees. Have to get up at 5 am to paint , still in the low 80's.

What do we always hear...but it is a dry heat.
Don't care, low 80s at 5 am is nuts.
