Jet size question

Post by mike209 »

What jet size you guys recommend for cbx with bigbore kit 1150, pod air filters (cheap, not KN) and mac exhaust 6-2? Carbs now have installed jet kit stage 3 from tims, kit came with 98 main's and according to Mike Nixon's booklet, dynojet needles are not the best choice, oh and mixture screws are aftermarket, did not hear any good about them either, help greatly appreciated

Your Stage 3 is OK for what you have. The jets are unique and are not comparable to stock jet sizes. Since you don't likely have any other Stage 3 jets, the 98s are OK. Where you do the tuning is with the adjustable needle. I'd put the clip at the second-leanest position and see what you get. You might have to go the leanest position. The Stage 3 kit runs pretty rich, so try that. Set the pilot screws to 2 1/2 turns out. That will probably get you close.

Dave, needles are at leanest position (top groove) and mixture screws are 2 1/2 turn out, when engine hot, rpm hang for few seconds around 1500-2000 then drop, choke works but not as good as it should, carbs are synchronized
