Cleaning clogged idle jets.

Post by steve murdoch icoa #5322 »

A search turned up some great info from Aris, Mike C. and a couple others and i was able to remove the idle jets from 3 sets of carbs.
The problem i am having now is unclogging them.
An hour in an ultrasonic cleaner and 24 hours sitting in carb cleaner and they are still plugged.
Tried delicately using #80 drill and a couple gauges of wire with no success.
Some have suggested heat to melt the clog. I am concerned that a heat gun might distort them?
Any suggestions?

I have put them on a hot plate and it has worked every time.

Put the propane torch right to them - clear in no time.
