More on carb leaks

Post by hondaman160mph »

Was going to go for a ride today and when I turned the petcock on fuel was leaking between #5 and #6 carb, coming out above the float bowl gasket from what I can see so I am guessing it's the o ring on the fuel joint. I had these carbs rebuilt by CBXman 6 years ago, very disappointing they are already leaking.
Does anyone know if he used Viton o rings?
I don't think I want to tackle this job myself, what does a carb rebuild from Mike Nixon cost? The carbs are clean and work perfect, sucks that just an leaking
o ring requires a rebuild, but catching on fire sucks more.

Funny thing about doing things yourself is that you will gain more intimate knowledge of the motorcycle you ride, a deeper appreciation for those folks who are willing to work on these bikes and you will only have yourself to blame if something goes wrong. :D

Even disregarding the incendiary potential, a steady dribble of petrol over things doesn't do anything any good! Yup, gotta fix it. My suggestion is to PM either Mike or Dave McMunn.
