Carb sync tool

Post by cross »

Hi guys,

I would like to know what tool you are using for syncing carbs.
There are great reviews for Morgans carbtune.
One of my friend has twinmax, electronic sync tool but it is only for two carbs at a time.
How much of a run around will I have using two port electronic unit versus 4 port vacuum sticks?
Twinmax also has great reviews.
I see that Honda manual states tool number for their sync tool and I think it's only with 1 port.
Any input appreciated
Thank you
Sasha

I use the Morgan Carbtune and love it. I just have the 4 tube one and tie the other 2 together with a hose and rotate after I get 5 6 and 4 done.

I use these. You can buy a set of 4 and then a set of 2 and join them together. Only trick is normalize the gauges buy adjusting them to the same value on one of the carbs. When they all read the same sync as per the manual. I did my 79 this week and the clutch rattle is gone.

Both of these are my options. Dial gauges bounce too much so they very hard to read.
I'm leaning towards morgan carbtune pro even though I would really like twinmax.
Not sure if it's really necessary to have gauge for every carb as the adjusters are for pair of carbs.
I think that part number that Honda has in the manual is a single port gauge, maybe twin.

No, each adjuster does only one carb, but also effects those downstream. 6 gauges are the way to go if you can. And the set shown has damping screws so you can nearly eliminate bounce. Dirty little secret is that if you fiddle to get perfect sync, go for a ride, then check them again, they'll be off a bit. The linkage is just too springy for holding perfect sync. But if you get them close, you'll have a sweet sounding CBX at idle and the rpms will drop back to a nice idle as well.

Any idea of the cost? I've seen a 6 set on eBay for around 250 and was thinking I could buy six individuals and mount them on a board.

If you get analog gauges, just make sure they are adjustable, so you can synchronize the gauges before you synchronize your carburetors. I bought a set of six, and they are not adjustable, and don't all read the same. Useless. I use a Carbtune now.
