carb sync advice please

Post by neilx7 »

Hi,
I need to sync my carbs after cleaning and servicing them.
I have a set of 4 carb tune gauges (stick type)
Can someone give me some advice on what order to sync the carbs, and any other useful advice that might make the job easier.

Cheers
Neil

Neil, go to page 8 of this thread.
Lots to take in but a good detailed report.

I'll add a bit to the excellent thread referenced. You can make final syncing real easy on yourself by bench syncing the carbs to as close to perfect as you can get. Then you don't have the marathon described in the thread. That's exactly what you'll be facing if your bench sync is way off. Once bench sync'd, I usually only need to do very minor tweaking to get them perfect with gauges and it's usually a quick job.

I'll also say that the bike in the thread was a late model and the carbs are at a flatter angle. This allowed the owner to get at the 5-6 adjustment screw with the long adjuster. That won't happen on the early models - you need the stubby adjuster tool for that one. So just hope the 5-6 sync is close.

thanks for the advice Dave,
yes i have looked at the stubby adjuster tool, and i think i can knock one up, as it will make 5-6 easier to get at.
i will bench sync them first look quite easy form what i found look at youtube etc.
