Air Duct Seal

Forgive me if this has been addressed, and I'm too thick to have found it, but the air cleaner chamber top (called the 'air duct' in the parts list) on my bike is missing about a third of the seal. What have you other fellows used for a replacement seal, please?

I used a black Permatex RTV sealant. Clean off the old, run a thin bead around just before reassembly.

Won't that glue them together? What about some thick weatherstrip seal. Then you can take it on and off without screwing up the seal. :twocents-02cents:

Lets be sure we're describing the same thing. On the carb side of this chamber, there are snorkels (intake runners?) that are sealed to this chamber.

That's what I used a thin bead of RTV to re-seal, once I removed the old stuff. I believe I could pull it apart again if I had reason to.

Rereading Bear's post I think I misunderstood. Sorry.

Is this aka the airbox lid Bear?

P.S. if you email me a photo I will post it for you...

Yes, sorry -- the airbox lid, held on with two extension screws, directly under the seat. I was thinking of weatherstripping, too.

Oh yeah then, some sticky-backed weatherstrippping in the right width, or trimmable, and Bob's yer uncle.
