Just finnished overhauling my 79x carbs and put them on a leak test only to find #6 dripping away. Took the bowl off, filled it with fuel and with the drain screw tight it is dripping. How do I fix what seems like a leak past the brass stand pipe and the bowl casting. A layer of JB weld perhaps?

solder the standpipe it must be cracked. They are brass. Some guys have replaced them. they sell that size at hobby lobby.

Thanks for the solution. I found the crack as you can see from the photo, soldered it up and no more leak!

That looks just like the ones I have done. That tube is very thin. Glad you solved your mystery.
