In Latin, the name Iris means "bringer of joy".
Seems like an appropriate name to me.
Have fun riding your beauty.

Re: 999 SIX Build
Looks great!
I thought you were planning to do the full fairings with the engine sticking out the sides - is that still in the plans or are you just gonna ride it and have fun?
It's funny - your bike and mine have a ton of superficial differences, but put another way, they have a lot in common:
1. Custom triples
2. Upgraded forks with cartridge internals.
3. Upgraded swingarm
4. Upgraded shock(s).
5. OEM wheels off another bike.
6. Brembo 4-piston front calipers.
7. Keyless ignition.

Which keyless system are you guy's using. Asking because the bike needs a new ignition switch... again. Only got one season of use from the stupid thing before it came apart.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum - I got one of the RFID kits from eBay for about 15 bucks. Some info here.

The work you've done so far is awesome, you've definitely earned some riding time.Wiskey Tango Foxtrot wrote:I'm still working on the full faired edition , but probably won't see that till next season.

Re: 999 SIX Build
Got the old girl out for a shakedown today , forgot what it was like to ride something with a 2 foot ling crank in it, one needs to turn in or at least think about turning in a bit earlier than the V twins . All in all , things worked the way they should , and despite a small oil leak from a fork , all is good ! I was a bit surprised as it handled quite well and braked hard as my 999 .

Very glad to hear that you're happy with it! I don't remember - did you change the rake or trail?

Both rake and trail did change, leading more to the 999R speck. And is still able to adjust through the eccentric head stock of the Ducati down tube.

Re: 999 SIX Build
Hi all, back for a look around the site. All seems in order, that's good ! Well I got my bike into BIKE Magazine out of the UK and should be in there November or December, also running it in Canadian Biker Magazine . I have been working towards my new project of a watercraft and came away with a whole new boat instead of building my own. If you youtube "jet dingy" you will get the jest of these things. My boat will be running a 1500cc Kawasaki 4 cylinder supercharged jet drive with roughly 300 BHP and a 12.5 ft aluminum hull with a 8deg V bottom. Wish me luck

Re: 999 SIX Build
Congrats on the well deserved ink. I will have a look for the magazines.
Just a guess but will the boat weigh less than the motor?
My 15 ft. Grumman canoe is the same colour but has considerably less horsepower.

Re: 999 SIX Build
Not sure what the boat will weigh in at , nor the motor , but hope to throw a scale under it before I start building it just for my own knowledge.

Amazing Project! Very well done. How did you resolve the battery placement issue? I have looked through your pics and it's incredible, I can't locate it - or even where it might be- visually.
