Day 1 of my new project
I'm sharing this gallery where you'll find pics of my new old '79, as I got it (actually after I cleaned up the area a little). A proof of madness or a future reference for all that hard work pending?

Francis, from the looks of it you have a decent starting point.
I like the wood floor in your garage.

Re: Day 1 of my new project
Well, project has been on hold during the harsh winter that seems to spread out until Summer... so here is where I'm at now. almost disassembled completely the '80 I got on top of the '79. I'll be swapping engines as the '80 starts but has a hard pinging sound (looks like the wrist pin or similar). I received some parts (cable, fork seals, new keyswitch, starter relay and other goodies). The '80 was in "survivor" shape so fully original but lots of grease / unknown fluid stuck pretty much everywhere. Frame is almost all cleaned up and ready for touch ups. I'm working on the fork (see my other post) seals and found a damaged slider internally.
So here is Jucy Lucy in its naked form!

Nils, it looks like an old DG muffler, the one with the serpentine head pipes.

Yup it's an old DG 6/1. Many people mistake the inlet and outlet of the pipe
Managed to fire her up yesterday, only #3, 5 to go! lol

Re: Day 1 of my new project
They are gorgeous. It's often repeated that they have a midrange flat spot that's very difficult to tune out, but that might just be bro-science lore. The PO of my bike said that he had one on for a while and loved the look and the sound but gave up on getting it to run right and went to the 6-into-2-into 1 setup for better midrange.NobleHops wrote:OMG that pipe is NUTS!

Given how good they look, it might be worth it to just work the shifter and keep the revs up.
