Switchgear
Rather than just replacing the left and right switch gear (euro ones are not readily available anyway!) I thought I'd try re-painting them: Used the marker pen in the picture, just dabbed the raised letters very gently - needed to go over it a few times but it didn't turn out too bad.
Used a finer version of the pen to do the red lettering on the locks - ignition, fuel and helmet.

Almost There
The bike is just about ready to fire up: All the electrics done and working OK. Did a compression test, and all cyclinders around 155 PSI as you'd probably expect after a rebuild.
Intention is to fire her up tomorrow - not expecting any problems, but you can never tell!
I have the newly painted bodywork ready to go - may get around to fit that tomorrow aswell.

Footrests / Brake Pedal
On another thread I queried what the standard finish was on the footrests / brake pedal. Well had them vapour blasted and the finish is a good match: I originally thought they maybe anodised, but the guy who vapour blasted them said it was almost certainly just aluminium with a clear coat - he could see the old clearcoat being removed.
I won't be putting clear coat back on - will give them a light polish with autosol and the finish should last as is.

Started the bike OK - only ran it for a few minutes but all seems OK.
Have a slight oil weep from the cam cover gasket area. Tried tightening the cover bolts but that hasn't fixed it. Will have to take the cover back off I suspect at some point to fix it.
Candy Glory Red paintwork fitted: Paintwork looks good - lighting in the garage isn't great, so doesn't really do it justice. For those in the UK, it was painted by "Dream Machine".
Just a few more things to finish off:
- install / rebuild the brakes
- synch the carbs
- put all the (new) decals / badges on
- give it a good clean / polish!

Is the oil weeping at the corners of the valve cover?
With the rebuild did you use new rubbers on the cam cover bolts?
I was unsuccessful but the valve cover can be removed without tilting the engine.

As Steve said, you absolutely need all new grommets and need to apply sealant exactly where Honda calls for it. Do that and you'll have no leaks.

It's weeping from the front left corner of the cover. Rubbers seemed OK, so didn't replace all of them, but missed the sealant - doh!daves79x wrote:As Steve said, you absolutely need all new grommets and need to apply sealant exactly where Honda calls for it. Do that and you'll have no leaks.

Well the good news is perhaps you can get away with simply raising it up in place, applying the sealant and replacing it, without wholesale removal.
Do you need tank emblems? I did a post about the repros vs NOS and the short version was that the repros from Australia were quite good.

I will see if I can apply the sealant in place as you suggest.
I have the tank badges - just in the process of re-painting them: Should have them finished later this evening.
