Did you check the bearing in the cover too?

Bearing in cover is ok, but after looking at mating surfaces of clutch.....I need to resurface them just a bit.

A question, I will put up somewhere else here but....
Why is it possible to buy new CR29 carb rack for a 750 Honda for about $725, yet a rack of 29's for a CBX is $2100.....????
Do 2 extra carbs and some rubber connectors cost almost $1400 extra?
Just wondering why ???

That might be the excuse...... It's what people used to say about Corvette parts too.... Didn't make sense then either. :no

Testing the stator...
Is this bad?
If the outer ring is considered ground....and it shows continuity....while the other tester end is touching a yellow wire?
Original rotor showed .9 across the rings...can both go bad at same time?

Speaking from memory here, which ain't what it used to be.........

Rather than trying to determine ground, check for continuity between the yellow wires. There are three yellow wires? Check between all of them. If there is continuity, your stator is fried.

Hopefully, someone will validate this, or correct me.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

There needs to be continuity between the yellow wires....and I have that with my stator...which is good according to the book.
My question is what is considered the ground?
If the ground is the outer ring, and I have continuity....the stator is bad?
If the outer ring is not what is considered ground, then it might still be ok?
I also have this questioned in the alternator/electrical section.

I did get the seals for my tubes going between all my carbs today....which means I now have to pull them completely apart.
I might wait another week when i have Christmas vacation, so I can do it all in one day, and not have to stop in the middle at some point.
Hopefully I'll have all the answers I need for the charging issues by then, and have it all done before Christmas....

The bowl gaskets look considerably thinner than the original seals..... :?

Bowl gaskets seem thinner, but work just fine. Apart, cleaned and back together in one day is a tall order. You are looking at 10 hours min if you have much cleaning to do.

As for your tests on the stator, yes, every yellow lead should have continuity with the other, but I think for a proper test to ground, the alternator needs to be complete and installed on the bike, since that's the only way the frame would be properly grounded. Also, the manual says that the tests can be run with the alternator in place. FYI, I've never seen a bad stator. Rotors, brushes, bearings and regulators, but not stators.

I just measured my alt clutch spring...it's at 27....thats quite a lot of washers to get to the a measurement of 30....?
The more I look at the alternator issue I am finding....and the ones I read about....
Should I just get the updated alternator conversion....would my charging issues be gone for good?
Every part I have seems to be so damned worn out..... :no

I put the alternator back together and bolted it up to check for continuity through the yellow to ground....
I have continuity.... Not good....
So I'm going the modern route I believe instead of always fixing or worrying about my battery having power.

Finally getting to the carbs again....
Once I started tearing them apart, I remembered I had put some viton seals on some of the tubes already.... (10-20 years ago at some point...obviously too long ago to have remembered)
I just never split the two center carbs from each other, which was where it was doing most of the leaking..... :sad-roulette:
IMG_7253.JPG
An easy way to get the throttle arms to link back together.....
....cut a washer to space out the arm where the other carb arm links up. save a lot of time and less adjustment when dialing in.
